Southbound I-5 in Santa Clarita Valley to Temporarily Close for Three Nights Aug. 11-13 for Overhead Sign Installation

<\/p>

WHAT:<\/span><\/b>
As part of the ongoing I-5 North County Enhancements Project, all southbound lanes of I-5 will be temporarily closed for three nights while crews install three permanent overhead signs. The signs will be placed along southbound I-5 between SR-14 and Calgrove Boulevard, including one on the Weldon Canyon Road Bridge.

Designed to enhance safety and improve traffic flow, the new signs will display standard information such as exit directions and freeway transitions for both automobiles and trucks.

<\/u>\u00b7                <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/u>Full directional closures of southbound I-5 between SR-14 and Calgrove Boulevard <\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>

Detour Routes:

Primary Detour:<\/span><\/u>
Motorists traveling southbound on I-5 should exit at Newhall Ranch Road, continue east on Newhall Ranch Road\/Golden Valley Road and connect to the southbound SR-14\/I-5 interchange.

Local Access Detour:<\/u>
Drivers may exit at Calgrove Boulevard, continue south on The Old Road, then south on San Fernando Road and Sepulveda Boulevard to access the southbound I-5 on-ramp at Roxford Street.

The construction zone will be protected by k-rail, with a reduced speed limit of 55 miles per hour. Access for emergency responders will be maintained throughout construction.

PROJECT BACKGROUND:<\/b>

The I-5 North County Enhancements Project is designed to do the following:<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>

<\/u>\u00b7                <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/u>Enhance safety and improve traffic flow for motorists and freight along the I-5 corridor.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>

<\/u>\u00b7                <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/u>Reduce congestion and improve commute times.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>

<\/u>\u00b7                <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/u>Support long-term growth and economic development in North Los Angeles County.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>

<\/u>\u00b7                <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/u>This $679 million project is one of Metro\u2019s Twenty-Eight by \u201928 initiatives and is scheduled for completion in 2026, well ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>

A bat with rabies was found recently on Huston St in Stevenson Ranch.\u00a0<\/span><\/u><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

Please consider sending out the attached information to your residents so that more people can be educated and protected from rabies, especially children and pets. \u00a0We have found that with HOAs\/property management groups distributing this important (and potentially life-saving) information, various residents across LA County knew exactly what to do when they found a bat on their property and it has helped to prevent rabies exposures in the community to both people and pets.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/u><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

It is very important for people to know about bats and rabies in California and to know how to protect themselves<\/span>, children,<\/span>\u00a0and their pets.\u00a0 Never pick up a bat or touch a bat with bare hands.\u00a0 We are especially concerned about:<\/span><\/u><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n
